Deemed Zakat return
In one sentenceA Zakat return in which the base is calculated on an estimated basis set by ZATCA instead of statutory accounts, for payers who do not keep regular commercial books.
Simply put
Normally the base is built from the financial statements. But some small payers do not keep regular accounts, so their Zakat is estimated on bases ZATCA sets.
The estimate is easier to prepare, but it may produce Zakat that does not reflect reality. Keeping regular books gives a more accurate calculation.
Example
The owner of a small grocery who does not prepare financial statements files a deemed return with his activity data as ZATCA requests. If he moves to keeping regular books, his return is based on his statements.
Don't confuse it with
Zakat returnA regular Zakat return is based on the financial statements, while a deemed return uses ZATCA's bases for those without statements.
