Indefinite-term employment contract

In one sentenceAn employment contract that sets no end date for the relationship, so it continues until one party ends it by notifying the other or for a reason the Saudi Labor Law recognizes.

Simply put

In this contract you write only the start date, not an end date. The relationship continues until one party decides to end it.

Whoever wants to end it is usually bound by a written notice period before leaving work. Check the Saudi Labor Law and its regulations for the details and the conditions of this type of contract.

Example

A pharmacy hired an accountant on an indefinite-term contract. Years later he wanted to move to another job, so he gave written notice, and the new accountant started taking over the work during the notice period.

Don't confuse it with

Fixed-term employment contractA fixed-term contract ends automatically when its written term expires, while an indefinite-term contract needs a decision and notice to end it.
