Inter-branch inventory transfer
In one sentenceMoving quantities of an item from one warehouse or branch to another within the same business, so the location of inventory changes without its total value changing.
Simply put
A transfer is not a sale: there is no revenue or profit in it, and the business's total inventory stays the same. What changes is each branch's balance.
Record the transfer with a document issued by one branch and received by the other, so the goods do not show up as a shortage here and a surplus there at the count.
Example
A pharmacy chain moves 40 boxes of an in-demand item from the main warehouse in Khamis Mushait to a branch in Abha that has run out of it; the warehouse balance falls by 40 boxes and the branch balance rises by 40 boxes at the same cost.
Don't confuse it with
Purchase returnsA return takes the goods out of the whole business back to the supplier, while a transfer only moves them within the business.
