Point of sale

POS

In one sentenceThe screen or device where the cashier completes a sale: entering items, calculating the total and VAT, taking payment and printing the invoice.

Simply put

The point of sale is the business's face to the customer: its speed decides how long the queue is, and its accuracy decides whether inventory and revenue are right.

A good point of sale is linked to inventory and accounts, issues a simplified tax invoice that complies with e-invoicing, and shows each cashier's performance. Do not confuse it with the card payment terminal the bank provides.

Example

In a pharmacy the cashier scans the medicine's barcode, the price and VAT appear, the customer pays by card, a simplified invoice with a QR code is printed, and the medicine's balance in the warehouse goes down automatically.

Don't confuse it with

mada terminal (card machine)The card machine is provided by the bank only to take card payments, while the point of sale is the whole sales system.
