Tax invoice

In one sentenceAn invoice issued in business-to-business (B2B) transactions that includes the buyer's tax details, and in the second phase requires prior clearance by ZATCA.

Simply put

In addition to the seller's details, it contains the buyer's name and VAT number, because the buyer will deduct its VAT from their output VAT.

If your customer is a registered business and asks for an invoice to deduct its VAT, issue them a tax invoice, not a simplified one.

Example

A pharmaceutical warehouse sold goods worth 30,000 SAR to a pharmacy and issued a tax invoice showing the pharmacy's VAT number, so the pharmacy can deduct the 4,500 SAR VAT from its output VAT.

Don't confuse it with

Simplified tax invoiceThe simplified invoice is for individuals, with fewer details, and is reported; the tax invoice is for businesses, with the buyer's details, and is cleared.
