Total wage
In one sentenceThe basic salary plus the fixed allowances the employee is entitled to every month, such as housing and transport. Many entitlements are calculated on it.
Simply put
The total wage is what the employee receives every month on a fixed basis: the basic and the allowances together.
You need it when calculating leave pay, the end-of-service benefit and the full hourly wage for overtime, so make sure you know exactly which allowances are fixed and which vary.
Worked example
A factory employee has a basic of 5,000 SAR, a housing allowance of 1,250 SAR and a transport allowance of 500 SAR.
Basic salary5,000
Housing allowance1,250
Transport allowance500
Monthly total wage6,750 SAR
Formula: Total wage = basic + fixed allowances
Don't confuse it with
GOSI contributory wageThe contributory wage is the basic and housing allowance only, while the total wage adds the other allowances to them.
