Official sources

The final reference is the official text and your business's account with the competent authority.

What does this check cover?

E-invoicing in the Kingdom has two phases: Phase 1 (Generation) requires issuing and storing invoices electronically from a compliant system, and adding a QR code to the simplified invoice; and Phase 2 (Integration) requires integrating the e-invoicing system with the FATOORA platform, issuing the invoice in XML format, and sealing it with the cryptographic stamp. The check asks you one question for each requirement, gives you a readiness percentage for each phase, and lists what you are missing together with what it takes to complete it.

How to use it

  1. Answer each question with “Yes”, “No” or “I'm not sure”.
  2. The result updates with every answer; “I'm not sure” counts as a missing item until you verify it.
  3. Download the report as PDF or Excel to follow up on the items with your team or your system provider.

What to do with the result

  • Missing Phase 1 items are urgent: Phase 1 applies to everyone registered for VAT.
  • Phase 2 items usually need a system that supports integration; ZATCA notifies each wave of its integration date in advance, so check the email you registered with ZATCA.
  • Read the QR code on your invoice with the invoice QR code reader to check its data, or create a test code with the QR code generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is this check official?
No. It is an indicative check based on your answers; the final reference is the requirements of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and its detailed e-invoicing guidelines.
Is an invoice made in Excel or Word an e-invoice?
No. An e-invoice is issued from a compliant electronic system, and word processors and spreadsheets do not meet its requirements.
How do I find out my business's integration date for Phase 2?
ZATCA notifies each wave of its integration date in advance, so check the email you registered with ZATCA or its portal.
