What does this tool do?
- Conversion from Gregorian to Hijri and from Hijri to Gregorian, with the weekday and the number of days in the Hijri month.
- Difference between two dates in days, and in years, months and days in the calendar you choose.
- Adding days to a date or subtracting them, such as a deadline 90 days later.
- Conversion table for a month or a whole year, shown on the page and downloadable as an Excel file after free registration.
The Umm al-Qura calendar
The tool uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, the official calendar in the Kingdom, in the range from 1318 AH to 1500 AH (from 1900 CE to 2077 CE), and takes month lengths from the calendar's own table rather than an approximation. The start of Ramadan and the two Eids, announced by moon sighting, may differ by a day from the calendar.
Examples
- 1 Ramadan 1445 AH = 11 March 2024 CE, a Monday.
- 28 October 2026 CE = 17 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH, a Wednesday.
- From 1 Muharram 1445 AH to 1 Muharram 1446 AH: 354 days, that is one Hijri year.
- From 1 July 2025 CE to 28 October 2026 CE: 484 days, that is 1 year, 3 months and 27 days.
- 28 October 2026 CE + 90 days = 26 January 2027 CE, corresponding to 18 Shaban 1448 AH.
Limits of the tool
Dates outside the supported Umm al-Qura calendar range are not converted, and a day that does not exist (such as the 30th in a 29-day month) shows a clear message. Conversion appears immediately without registration; registration is only needed to download the conversion table.
