Delegation of authority matrix

In one sentenceA table that sets out who has authority to approve each type of financial transaction and up to what amount, such as purchasing, payments and discounts.

Simply put

The delegation of authority matrix answers the question: who signs what? Each transaction has a limit, and anything above it goes up to a higher level.

It protects the business from large individual decisions, and speeds up daily work because each employee knows his limits without going back to the manager for everything.

Example

In a distribution establishment: a purchase order up to 10,000 SAR is approved by the branch manager, from 10,000 to 100,000 SAR by the finance manager, and anything above that by the general manager. An invoice discount above 5% needs the sales manager's approval.

Don't confuse it with

User roles and permissionsThe matrix is a written management decision, while system permissions are the way it is applied automatically inside the software.
